Under the influence of his father and grandfather, who worked all their lives as wine merchants upon arriving to Chile, Hernán studied at the Catholic University of Chile where he received degrees in Agriculture, Viticulture and Enology.
He perfected his studies in France and afterwards, he moved to North America to join the Department of Viticulture Research of Bright Wines, the largest wine producing company in Canada, where he worked for 20 years.
In 1993, Hernán returned to Chile to establish MontGras with his brother Eduardo, turning his passion into a true family vocation that has been transferred throughout the years. He was President of MontGras until 2012 and is now the Technical Director of Winery.
Eduardo Gras is the founder of Empresas Socovesa S.A., one of the most important real estate companies of the country. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to develop projects in various industries, earning him an important place in the national business arena. In another aspect, during the 80's, his social vocation was made present giving life to his dearest project, Emprender Educational Corporation, which seeks to cooperate with the State in the formation of more than 5,000 children and youngsters, in four private subsidized schools throughout Chile.
His family, of Catalonian origin, was always linked to wine. Upon arriving as immigrants, they established themselves in Concepción at the beginning of the 1900’s and they started working in the industry, transferring this passion from generation to generation.
In 1993, he ventures in the wine business with his brother Hernán and his partner Cristián Hartwig, giving life to MontGras. Currently, Eduardo is Director of the winery.
